In 1969, the first Imperial Immersion Suit was produced by Gunnar Guddal and made available for the maritime market. Over 50 years later, the Imperial brand still stands for the toughest and most reliable suit in the world. Being cut a bit larger and a few special features makes it one of the fastest donning and most practical suits to wear when your life depends on it.
Today, the Imperial commercial products portfolio has grown to include USCG, USCG/SOLAS, TC/SOLAS and MED/SOLAS versions of the immersion suit. Imperial also offers a full complement of USCG Type I, III, IV and V personal flotation devices, as well as new public safety products specifically designed to address the needs of search and rescue professionals.
The Imperial company was purchased from the Guddal family in 2008 by Revere Supply Co Inc. The brand is changed to "Imperial by Revere". In turn, Revere were acquired by Survitec Group in November 2010.
Kari Guddal, daughter of the inventor Gunnar Guddal, continues to work for Survitec Group today and is an Account Manager in North America.
