Delivering Survival Technology to safeguard crews in Northern Norway’s toughest conditions.

Hansen Protection has secured a multi-year contract to supply life-protection equipment to Lufttransport, Norway’s largest and fastest-growing offshore helicopter operator.

As the offshore helicopter market undergoes rapid expansion, driven by both oil and gas and the accelerating growth of offshore wind, operators face unprecedented demands for efficiency, reliability, quality and above all, safety. Lufttransport is on track for a major expansion, growing its fleet to 18 helicopters by the end of 2026, to become Norway’s largest offshore operator.

Hansen Protection’s contract, initially for three yeas with an option to extend, will deliver a comprehensive suite of personal protective equipment, including immersion suits, lifejackets, and rescue swimmer equipment. All servicing and maintenance will be conducted within Norway, ensuring rapid response and local expertise, a critical differentiator in an industry where downtime and safety lapses are not an option.

Operating in some of Norway's most northerly regions, Lufttransport required a partner who truly understands these challenging environments. This partnership is emblematic of a broader shift in the offshore sector from transactional supplier relationships to strategic collaborations built on quality and service speed.

“Our ability to provide not only quality Survival Technology but also a robust local service and maintenance network was instrumental in securing this contract,” said Fredrik Joachim Eriksen of Hansen Protection. “We are not just delivering equipment; we are delivering peace of mind and operational continuity in some of the world’s most challenging environments in northern Norway.”

The contract’s hybrid model, combining the sale of crew suits and rescue swimmer equipment with the rental of HALO lifejacket systems, reflects a growing industry trend towards flexible, lifecycle-based safety solutions. This approach streamlines logistics, ensures regulatory compliance, and enables operators to focus on their core mission: safe, efficient offshore operations.

“We’re always looking to the future, whether it’s integrating digital safety management systems, adopting sustainable materials, or responding to the unique risks of remote and harsh environments. Our investment in local service infrastructure, product innovation, and customer service is helping drive our business growth,” added Eriksen.

Erlend H. Olsen, CEO at Lufttransport said, “Safety is at the core of everything we do at Lufttransport. As we expand to meet growing demand in offshore energy, partnering with Hansen Protection ensures our crews are equipped with the most advanced Survival Technology. This agreement reflects our shared commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety and reliability in some of the world’s most challenging environments.”

Lufttransport is experiencing significant growth, marked by the expansion of its fleet and the strengthening of its operational capabilities. Recent developments include the introduction of advanced helicopters and the securing of long-term service agreements, which enhance its ability to support offshore operations efficiently and safely. These strategic moves position the company for sustained success in meeting increasing demand within the energy sector.

This contract reinforces the importance of safety and reliability in offshore operations. By delivering Survival Technology alongside a strong local service capability, Hansen Protection is helping Lufttransport maintain operational continuity in some of the most demanding environments. As the offshore sector adapts to energy transition and stricter safety standards, this agreement reflects a shared focus on quality, responsiveness, and protecting lives.
