2024 Fire White Paper wins IBJ Safety in Maritime (Marine) accolade
A white paper titled "Why Are the Fires Not Going Out? Unveiling the True Cost of Inadequate Fire Safety Inspections," won the Safety in Maritime (Marine) award at the IBJ Awards.
The paper exposes the widespread failures in fire safety practices that have led to an alarming increase in shipboard fire incidents worldwide.
The paper also highlights critical gaps in fire safety and raises awareness of the systemic risks threatening the maritime sector.

2024 Seahaven wins two Ship Technology Awards – Innovation and Safety
Survitec won two Ship Technology Excellence Awards for Seahaven, the world’s largest inflatable lifeboat.
Seahaven earned top honours in the Innovation and Safety categories at the annual awards, powered by GlobalData’s business intelligence platform, which celebrates individuals and companies spearheading industry change.
2023 Survitec was gifted the Bronze award for their support

2023 SMARR-TI wins Safety4Sea Technology Award 2023
In a virtual ceremony, the Technology Award was awarded to Survitec for SMARR-TI, our new safety management solution. This achievement is particularly noteworthy as this is the second year running that we have won the award, following our win for Seahaven in 2022.

We took home the Health and Safety award at the ESG shipping awards. This award is given to companies demonstrating best practices concerning Health and Safety. 2023 Breaking workplace barriers and winning awards with Shell
At the Offshore Achievement Awards, we scooped the award for diversity and inclusion, recognising a joint effort with Shell in removing barriers, improving the working experience and building an inclusive culture. The award resulted from a project initiated by the findings of a Shell colleague survey about the offshore immersion suit experience.
2023 Recognised for our important contribution to maritime safety
We received the inaugural MV Derbyshire Award from the Liverpool Shipwreck and Humane Society for Seahaven. Presented to Stew Gregory, our lead designer of Seahaven, the award reflects the focus of the Derbyshire families, encompassing all that is important in developing solutions for safety at sea.
2022 Inspiring Leadership accolade for our Aerospace and Defence CEO
The Manufacturer's Top 100 Awards, Survitec's Aerospace and Defence CEO, Martin Whittaker received an Inspiring Leader award. Nominated by his peers and judged by an expert panel, Martin was selected for creating stable employment while remaining committed to investing in developing the value of a manufacturing business through people, processes and technology alongside demonstrating impressive achievements.
2022 Survitec wins best small booth at SAFE's annual symposium
At the 60th annual SAFE Association symposium, we were awarded the prize for best small booth alongside hosting a constant stream of very interested and engaged customers with opportunities for current and future business of significant value. Judges recognised Survitec on the quality of our exhibit out of over 50 exhibitors and how well the team engaged with delegates throughout the duration of the symposium.
2022 Our innovation recognised by Wescom Group
We took home the innovation award at the Wescom Group distributor awards for our new liferaft reusable packing pouches for use with their pyrotechnic range. By incorporating new reusable valises, we've reduced our environmental impact by eliminating the need for bubble wrap in the pyrotechnics and other survival equipment packed into your liferaft. Resulting in approximately 10 tonnes less plastic waste being sent to landfill annually.
2022 Seahaven wins the Safety4Sea Technology Award
Our revolutionary Seahaven, the world’s largest inflatable lifeboat, was announced as the winner of the technology category at the 2022 Safety4Sea virtual awards ceremony. Our self-propelled inflatable lifeboat surpassed Safety4Sea’s judging criteria of providing a “significant technological achievement or significant contribution to maritime safety”. We continue to push boundaries and look for new, innovative ways to protect lives at sea. This award indicates the important contribution Seahaven will make to cruiseship safety.
2022 The world’s largest inflatable lifeboat is certified as cruise ship ready
Seahaven is now ready to be installed on cruise vessels, having received full type approval certification from classification society Lloyd’s Register. A Certificate of Type Approval was presented by Lloyd’s Register Chief Operations Officer Mark Darley to Mark Cotton, Survitec Sales Director during the SMM trade fair in Hamburg, Germany. Certification follows the successful completion of heavy weather sea trials (HWST), and all environmental and physical testing as defined by Lloyd’s Register Type Approval (A.520).
20232 We have received the UK defence sector’s highest supplier accolade
In 2022 we received a UK Government Gold Award under the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) for our “outstanding support” to the country’s armed forces. To be considered for the prestigious award, defence industry suppliers must hold a valid Silver Award certificate and have signed the UK’s defence industry covenant. They must also demonstrate support for reservists, assist in their mobilisation, and provide at least 10 additional days paid leave for training.
2021 Survitec is the UK’s most active maritime company on LinkedIn
In 2021, we topped the table of The UK’s Most Active Maritime Professionals on Social media, after 12.94% of our colleagues shared LinkedIn content throughout November. The industry average across all regions is 4.5%. The report was collated by employer influencer platform DSMN8, noting that Survitec had interacted highly compared to the next best at 9.17%. This achievement is a testament to our team’s hard work, ensuring our brand is recognised worldwide.
2021 Recognised by the UK Ministry of Defence for our commitment to the Armed Forces.
In 2021 we were awarded the Silver Award by the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) for supporting the wider armed forces community and their families, who serve or have served in the Armed Forces while aligning our values with the Armed Forces Covenant. This recognition is thanks to our dedicated team, who work every day to help ensure the safety and security of defence personnel operating across air, land and sea.
2020 Survitec awarded NHS personal protective equipment contract
In 2020, we were awarded the NHS contract by the UK Department for Health and Social Care to produce sterilised surgical isolation gowns. During those unprecedented times, we were – and remain to be - incredibly proud and humbled to be selected as a key partner to support dedicated front-line workers across the health services who are doing the important work of battling COVID-19.
2020 Cyber Essentials Certificate
We are 100% committed to not only the safety of our customers, but also the safety of their data. Therefore, we are delighted to announce that we have been awarded the Cyber Essentials Certificate. This UK Government backed scheme recognises our commitment to cyber security and demonstrates to our customers and suppliers that we have taken extra steps to protect the business against cyber threats.
2019 EEEGR Offshore Wind award
The East of England Energy Group (EEEGR) Awards celebrate the outstanding achievements and developments that have taken place within the energy sector over the last 12 months. In 2019, we won the EEEGR Award in the Offshore Wind category for the Evacuator system - an emergency wind turbine descent system which the judging panel recognised as representing “a significant contribution” to renewable energy safety. We are absolutely delighted to win this prestigious award, which we accepted on behalf of Evacuator’s inventors Eugene Verstegen and Joris Veeger.
2019 ‘Best emerging safety solution’ Safety at Sea award
The prestigious IHS Markit Safety at Sea awards ended in triumph for us as we took home the ‘Best Emerging Safety Solution’ award for our game-changing Seahaven evacuation system - a revolutionary slide-based rigid inflatable liferaft for the mass evacuation of passengers and crew from cruise ships. Seahaven is expected not only to revolutionise the way in which passengers evacuate in an emergency, but also how cruise ships are designed. The judges’ recognition of Seahaven confirms that the industry is ready to consider new ways of approaching safety.
2019 Cornerstone Client Excellence award – ‘Transformational HR Category'
The Cornerstone Client Excellence Awards celebrate leading client organisations for innovation and excellence in talent management. In 2019, we were awarded the Cornerstone Client Excellence award for ‘Transformational HR’ for our outstanding work in using Cornerstone to help align our HR strategy with our overall business goals. We were recognised for actively and deliberately driving change across our organisation, through the use of quantifiable metrics, that resulted in fundamental successful changes in how we managed, viewed and developed our people.
2019 Transform awards ‘Best Visual Identity – the Engineering & Manufacturing sector’ and ‘Best Internal Communications During Brand Development'
At the 2019 Transform Awards Europe, we were honoured with not just one award – but two! The awards, which recognise businesses for rebrand and brand development work, followed a major company merger where we built a new visual identity assisted by communications agency UPP B2B. The judges commented that our brand was ‘strong and emotional’ and aided in uniting employees around the importance of their work. They called our brand ‘inspiring’ with one stating ‘it clearly unified the business and ignited a sense of purpose, pride and mission.’
2019 Yachting Monthly ‘Best on Test’ award
Inspired by developments in the aviation market, our Crewsaver ErgoFit+ lifejacket caught the judge’s attention for the prestigious Yachting Monthly awards. The respected UK-based publication carried out a series of ‘in water’ trials on ten of the most cutting-edge lifejackets available to the yachting market and announced the Crewsaver Ergofit+ ‘best on test.’ Yachting Monthly stated that “if performance in the water is the most important aspect of a lifejacket, the Ergofit+ was streets ahead of everything else on test.”
2019 Yacht Magazine ‘Best Value Buy’ award
Highly respected German publication ‘Yacht’ conducted a series of both in and out of water trials comparing 15 lifejackets. Out of the 15, the Crewsaver Crewfit 180N Pro stood out and was named as the ‘best value buy’ lifejacket. Always remembering ‘it’s what’s inside that counts,’ the judging panel especially noted the Crewfit 180N Pro’s bladder design technology - commenting on the shaped bladder, which ‘ensures ideal position in the water.’
