• Fluorine free Foam fire extinguisher coming soon
Reliable, stored-pressure protection for Class A and B fire risks

Designed for immediate deployment, these stored-pressure foam fire extinguishers use a fluorine-free extinguishing agent that combines effective cooling and surface sealing to help control fire and prevent reignition.

Designed for Class A and B fire risk, our stored pressure, fluorine-free foam fire extinguishers provide effective protection against fires involving solid combustible materials and flammable liquids, including solvents, hydrocarbons and paints. Fine water droplets absorb heat to cool the fire, while the foam additive improves wetting and penetration. On flammable liquids, the additive forms a surface film that helps suppress vapours and reduce the risk of reignition. Manufactured from coated steel for increased durability in demanding marine conditions, the range includes portable 9 litre and mobile 45 litre and 135 litre models. Wall brackets, storage cabinets and other fire extinguisher accessories are also available.

What fluorine-free means

We define fluorine-free as products that are manufactured without the intentional addition of fluoro-organic compounds for the purpose of improving performance in such a way that, according to currently commercially available analysis of PFAS in firefighting foam concentrates, they do not contain any quantity of fluoro-organic substances in excess of the ubiquitous regional background contamination (e.g., in the drinking water used for production).

Storage

Store the extinguisher upright in its designated location, protected from direct sunlight, heat sources, excessive moisture, and physical damage. Keep the extinguisher accessible and ensure that its operating instructions remain visible and legible.

  • Stored-pressure design enables immediate deployment and straightforward operation
  • Fluorine-free foam technology supports the transition away from fluorinated firefighting foams
  • Corrosion-resistant construction enhances durability in demanding marine environments
  • Available in portable and wheeled versions to suit different risk areas and applications
  • MED approved for marine use

Regular inspection and maintenance should be carried out in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions, applicable regulations and vessel maintenance schedules to ensure optimal performance and regulatory compliance. Following discharge, the extinguisher must be removed from service and recharged by trained service personnel using approved components and extinguishing media. As stored-pressure fire extinguishers cannot be recharged on board ship, spare extinguishers of the same type and capacity must be carried. The number of spares must be equivalent to 100% of the first ten extinguishers carried on board, plus 50% of the remaining extinguishers, up to a maximum of 60 spare units. Survitec provides inspection, maintenance and recharge services via our global service network. Yes. The manufacturer describes the extinguishing agent as PFAS-free (fluorine-free) and free from PFOS and PFOA. If you require confirmation against a specific PFAS definition, procurement policy, flag state or regional regulation please refer to the current product declaration and approval documentation.

A stored-pressure (also known as permanent-pressure or constant-pressure) fire extinguisher is pre-pressurized and ready for immediate use. The extinguishing agent is expelled directly from the cylinder when the extinguisher is activated.

A stored pressure fire extinguisher is pressurized in advance and so does not require a separate pressurization step during operation; the internal pressure expels the extinguishing agent when the extinguisher is activated. A cartridge-operated fire extinguisher keeps the firefighting agent in an unpressurised main tank and stores the propellant gas in a separate cartridge until the unit is activated. Both cartridge-operated and stored pressure fire extinguishers are suitable for maritime applications, subject to the applicable regulations and approval requirements.

A stored pressure fire extinguisher holds the firefighting agent and the propellant gas together in one continuously pressurised container, ready for immediate activation. This simplifies storage and maintenance. There are no spare parts to store and, once the unit has been discharged, the entire unit is usually replaced. For this reason, stored pressure fire extinguishers are often preferred on commercial vessels, such as passenger vessels or cargo shops, and smaller vessels such as fishing vessels and recreational boats, because they are both simple to operate and easy to inspect and maintain.
