Fluorine-free firefighting foams - Are you ready?

Model.Name

Are you perplexed about PFOS? Mystified by MSC.532(107)?

You are not alone.

There is a lot of confusion, especially about MSC.532(107). Many are confused about what this resolution means in practice and interpret it as a requirement to be fluorine-free by January 26th, 2026.

The MSC. 532(107) deadline applies only to foam concentrates containing PFOS, a specific group of fluorinated substances, and these were phased out by many suppliers many years ago – for example, Survitec stopped supplying foams containing PFOS in 2009. So, the good news is that if you source your foams from responsible suppliers such as Survitec, you should already be compliant.
