Survitec has significantly strengthened its team with the appointment of Kevin Wheeler as Medical Director.
Kevin will be responsible for the strategic direction and management of the medical aspects of the Survitec business, chief among which is the launch of its pre-hospital care system which aims to enhance survivability on the battlefield.
Kevin joins Survitec from CNN International, where he served as a Senior Field Security Adviser and Medical Training Manager. In this role Kevin was responsible for security management and medical training in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
David Griffiths, VP of Defence Sales for Survitec, said: “With his blend of military and medical experience, Kevin’s skillset represents the perfect fit for this role and will help further develop Survitec’s expertise in this sector. We have a proud history in the defence space providing equipment for military personnel and now we want to become even more integrated in the process in terms of administering all the necessary medical provisions too.”
Kevin Wheeler, Medical Director of Survitec, said: “It is the opportune time to be joining Survitec given its commitment to the defence sector and its appetite to become even more of a major provider in this space going forward. I can bring true first-hand experience of what works best in the field to this role, which will help ensure the products we provide and the systems we create are as safe and secure as possible for future generations of military personnel.”
Prior to working at CNN International, Kevin spent six years with the UK Special Forces. During his time there, he served as a team leader in various roles and was deployed on global operations, almost exclusively in highly hostile and austere environments. In addition to covert surveillance roles, Kevin also offered specialised advice during live counter-terrorist operations, ensured kit and equipment were ready for rapid reactive mobilisations and served as a combat medic with the Royal Marines in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Kevin also worked for BP for two years, where he was responsible for the effective management of multiple concurrent international logistics projects, including mobilising individuals and equipment into Angola.
He is also a Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) registered Paramedic and has a Dip HE in Paramedic Science from Birmingham City University, as well as a MSc in Security & Risk Management from the University of Leicester.
