Husamettin Barbaros Gokhan is one of our Lead Service Technicians responsible for Service Operations in Turkey.
With a passion for the maritime industry, Barbaros spent eight months onboard ships as part of his degree, leading him to graduate from Istanbul Piri Reis University as a BSc Marine Engineer. Seeking more experiences and continuing to grow his skillset, Barbaros gained further knowledge in various roles, including Safety Service Engineer (LSA & FFE), Service Coordinator and Senior Service and Business Development Engineer.
In 2021, his journey brought him to Survitec, where he began as a Service Technician in the MEA region, working with our Lifeboats, Rescue Boats, Davits, Launching Appliances, and Release Gears.
Barbaros takes immense pride in protecting lives and is grateful he gets to do so with the global leader in Survival Technology solutions. Being the authorised service engineer in his region, he performs our annual or five-yearly lifeboat and davit inspections. He also assists in coordinating local operations by working with our Account Managers and Sales Operations for both liferafts and lifeboats in Turkey.
Since joining the business, he notes gaining considerable experience in Service, Operation, Coordination, and Sales business areas. Knowing that Survitec can offer a career for life, Barbaros is further pursuing our training and development opportunities to improve his management skillset, preparing himself to take on greater management responsibilities in the future.
Reflecting on his time here, he shares that one of the parts he admires most about his role is being part of one big family. He has found great support from colleagues and managers whenever facing problems, going beyond usual requirements, helping him improve personally and within his role.
