Safety solutions provider Survitec has secured an order for four shipsets worth £280,000, from Philippines-based Ropax owner, Shogun Ships Co Inc. Traditionally a major player in the domestic tanker market, Shogun Ships is making a new move into the passenger sector. Survitec will provide DSB Rescue Boats, Survitec Davits and Crewsaver Premier Lifejackets to support the company in its transition.

Shogun Ships was established in 2002 and prides itself on the quality and safety of its fleet and services. Mr Vicente M. Cordero Jr., Chairman and CEO at Shogun commented on the new developments, “It is our vision to be recognised as the first-choice domestic carrier for our high quality service, and our absolute regard for safety and the marine environment. We’re pleased to be able to align our safety needs with one of the world’s leading safety providers.”

Gamaliel Wee, Regional Sales Manager at Survitec, said: “Survitec supplies critical safety solutions and products to both the commercial and passenger markets. We are delighted that a global company transitioning sectors, considers us to be their first port of call. Survitec continuously offers innovation with best-in-class products. For instance, our Crewsaver Premier Compact lifejacket leads the passenger ship market in terms of durability, manoeuvrability and optimised design.”

The Safety Range
Survitec’s DSB Inflatable Boats with outboard engine are extremely light and manoeuvrable, yet very robust and durable – making them ideal for safety conscious passenger vessel operators. Key safety features include an inflatable, deep, V-shaped keel for improved manoeuvrability in the water. The boats are also fitted with a radar reflector, compass and all standard safety equipment.

Survitec has a range of davits and winches designed to Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) and Life-Saving Appliance (LSA) regulations. These products are inherently strong and are built to perform in the toughest maritime conditions.

Since their introduction in July 2010, the Crewsaver Premier and Premier Compact have led the way in passenger and crew lifejacket safety. The Crewsaver Premier was the first lifejacket to be approved to ISO 200(80) standard. Additionally, the Premier Compact is a 42% smaller alternative to the original, with an efficient use of storage space at only 17.4L with 143N buoyancy performance.
