Survitec has been announced as the exclusive headline sponsor for the upcoming 2019 Safety at Sea awards. The ceremony is set to take place on the 10th of September at the London Marriott Grosvenor Square in Mayfair, London during London International Shipping Week.
Safety at Sea is the world’s only monthly magazine dedicated to global maritime safety and is the one of the leading publications promoting safe and secure working practices within the commercial shipping industry.
Tanya Blake, editor, Safety at Sea, said, “We are delighted to welcome Survitec as headline sponsor of this year’s Safety at Sea awards. It is an ideal partnership as we share the same goal; to ensure crew, the backbone of the shipping industry, are protected when working at sea and can come home safely to their friends and family. With nearly a century’s experience of manufacturing life-saving appliances, Survitec is an ideal supporter of these important awards, which honour and celebrate the hardworking people and companies in maritime that strive to make shipping safer.”
Survitec has been shortlisted in two categories, including; ‘Best Emerging Safety Solution’. This award looks to identify an innovation product, service, or programme that shows great promise to improving maritime safety. Nominated for this award is Seahaven – Sliding to Safety.
The second shortlisting is in the ‘Best Safety Product of the Year – Fire Fighting’ category, a newly created award to highlight an issue that the editorial committee felt that should be brought to the attention of the wider maritime community. The nominated product is The Foam Buddy – a crew’s friend when fighting deck fires. This product addresses the requirements for ease of movement and efficiency when fighting fires in limited space.
As headline sponsors, Survitec will also be presenting the ‘Crew of the Year’ award on the night. This award celebrates crews that have consistently put safety first and thus helped inspire others to adhere to best practice.
This awards evening is dedicated to recognising those who have made commitments and efforts to improve seafarer competence whether it be through training, operations, equipment or services.
“Survitec are thrilled to have received these nominations and to be sponsoring the awards. We take pride in being the exclusive headline sponsor and recognising the significant importance of safety at sea.” Hannah Burywood, Survitec Marine Marketing Manager.
