Monday 17th June saw Survitec welcome Lord Ian Duncan to its manufacturing plant in Dunmurry, Belfast.
Lord Duncan, Minister in the Northern Ireland Office, was keen to hear and see first-hand the products Survitec manufactures at the Dunmurry plant.
Survitec has a long and proud heritage in designing and manufacturing safety solutions for the marine, energy, defence and aviation market. The Dunmurry site is the centre of excellence for marine and aviation survival products and employs more than 300 staff.
On arrival Lord Duncan was greeted by Gavin Gillespie MD and Andrew Reavy Operations Director, he was introduced to a number of staff and taken on a tour of the factory facilities including the production lines for Single Seat Rafts, Aerospace Liferafts, Aerospace lifejackets, Marine Evacuation Systems and Marine Liferafts.
Gavin Gillespie stated: “Visits like these provide us with an ideal opportunity to demonstrate to key influencers just how complex, innovative and important the work is that we undertake here and how Survitec’s products and services are used globally to help keep millions of people safe”.
After introducing Survitec’s products, the markets served and discussing the intricate work that goes into producing these survival solutions, Lord Duncan took part in a lifejacket demonstration and deployed one of Survitec’s aerospace lifejackets, he also witnessed the deployment of a Mk4 Marine Liferaft in the hi-tech testing facilities.
Lord Duncan commented: “I was extremely impressed by the expertise, planning and detailing that goes into producing these critical safety and survival solutions that Survitec provides for its customers around the world.”
