Fire safety inspections typically include a review of certification records, visual examination of equipment, functional testing, inspection of alarms and detection systems, assessment of suppression systems and verification that servicing requirements have been completed in accordance with class, flag-state and manufacturer requirements.
The exact requirements will vary according to the vessel type, age, flag and class, as well as the equipment installed on board, the equipment manufacturer, the applicable service interval, and any additional OEM requirements.
Yes. Older vessels often face additional maintenance challenges, such as ageing equipment, obsolete components, changing regulatory requirements and increased inspection expectations. Without careful planning, this can lead to rising maintenance costs, unexpected repairs and a greater risk of inspection deficiencies.
Survitec's specialist technicians have extensive experience working with legacy fire safety systems across a wide range of vessel types and manufacturers. Our inspections provide clear visibility of equipment condition and future maintenance requirements, helping vessel owners and managers plan maintenance more effectively, prioritise investment and maintain compliance in the most cost-efficient way possible throughout the vessel lifecycle.
Yes. We can inspect and service both fixed installations and portable safety equipment during a single attendance, subject to the agreed scope of work.
The scope of work can include fire detection systems, fire suppression systems, gas welding distribution systems, fire extinguishers, breathing apparatus, emergency escape breathing devices (EEBDs), foam applicators and other associated equipment, to help streamline the inspection process and minimise operational disruption. We can also inspect and service wearables, such as lifejackets, immersion suits, firefighter suits and chemical protection suits.
Upon completion of the inspection, you will receive a Certificate of Inspection, which serves as the official record for flag-state, class and Port State Control (PSC) authorities.
You will also receive a comprehensive Service Report detailing the work performed, the condition of the equipment, any deficiencies identified and any corrective actions completed.
In addition, Survitec provides maintenance recommendations and forward-looking service guidance to help vessel owners and managers plan future maintenance activities, address emerging compliance risks and maintain inspection readiness between service intervals.
